Combined AzMNH/Mesa Grande Field Trip
Mesa Grande will be opening October 16th, 2019 through May 3rd, 2020.
$9.00 per person including teachers and chaperones
- For 3rd Grade and up only. This program is tied to current Arizona Academic Standards and is an excellent addition for meeting 3rd and 4th grade Social Studies Standards.
- Minimum of 15 guests
- Available Wednesday-Friday, starting at 10:00 a.m.
- Mesa Grande field trips are only available during the months of October till April due to the outdoor nature of the program and the likelihood of extreme heat.
This field trip combines the Mesa Grande archaeological adventure (educator guided program) with a self-guided exploration of the Arizona Museum of Natural history.
Joint field trips are a wonderful opportunity for the students to see the scientific method in action along with the interpretation of those results in a museum setting. Large groups (over 75) are divided in half and switch between the Mesa Grande program and visiting the AZ Museum of Natural History and will have the opportunity to eat lunch at the Mesa Grande site.
Interactive Mesa Grande and Mesa Grande/AzMNH Joint Field Trips
Mesa Grande field trips are dynamic experiences designed to fit into Arizona Science and Social Science Standards. Each trip is led by trained teams of archaeological educators, making each trip an exclusive use program at the site. They require a significant amount of preparation, organization and staffing to offer your schools a unique program that can stand alone or enhance a museum trip. Given the time that goes into our training and booking, these policies apply specifically for this one of a kind program.
If you are a Title I school, please indicate your status in the correct field of the booking request form.
It may take a few days to process your request. Thank you for your patience. When processed, you will receive a confirmation email with the date and time agreed upon and further instructions that will make your trip go smoothly. Please feel free to forward to other teachers and chaperones in your group.
Group Booking Requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance and have a minimum of 10 paying guests for AZMNH and 15 for Mesa Grande. Teachers and chaperones are not free at Mesa Grande or the AzMNH and they never have been. We charge a low per person rate for every individual that is attending the trip.

Please confirm availability with your administration and check on your transportation as soon as you receive our confirmation email that has the agreed to date and time. If needing to reschedule, please be ready with your options as we will not reschedule multiple times.
The AZMNH opens at 10:00 a.m. and is closed Mondays. The AZMNH regulates the number of people scheduled for any given time slot in the museum in order for patrons to have the most enjoyable experience possible. If you must change the day of your trip, let us know as soon as possible. Also, kindly let us know if your numbers change significantly.
Mesa Grande is open from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday – Friday in the months of October till April. All field trips must be booked through a Group Booking Request Form, specifying which Mesa Grande Field Trip option.
Mesa Grande is an exclusive use site so please have more than one date chosen for your trip in case your first choice has already been taken. If required to change the date or cancel your trip, please let us know as soon as possible in order to open the opportunity to others.
Mesa Grande Trips are staffed over a month in advance and changes such as late start will not be made the week of your trip. If you need a schedule that differs from our typical 90 minute program that runs from 10-11:30 in the morning and/or 12-1:30 in the afternoon (you can find the typical schedule in the FAQ section of the website that is linked in our Booking Policies), you must alert staff either in the Notes section of the booking request form or as soon as you receive your confirmation.
Trips may be rescheduled once, 31 days or more in advance. If you initially book your trip less than 31 days out, you will not be permitted to reschedule.

Cancellations must be communicated to us as soon as possible.
Canceling might be easy for you but is hard for us; please let us know.
In order to hold your date, reply to our confirmation email that contains our agreed to date and time of arrival, but please confirm availability first with your administration and check on your transportation. If needing to reschedule from the original date, please be ready with your options as due to programming and staffing, we will not reschedule multiple times.
