Hoop Dance
The modern Hoop Dance is a pan-Native American performance that dates from the 1930s. Tony White Cloud from Jemez Pueblo, in New Mexico, is known as the “founder of the modern Hoop Dance.” However, it is believed that some form of hoop dance has taken place in multiple tribes throughout the years, for example in the White Mountain Apache healing ceremonies.
