The Navajo (Diné, The People) and Apache are related peoples speaking Athapascan languages, originally centered in northwest Canada and Alaska, who entered the Southwest from northwestern North America perhaps as early as A.D. 1400. Both Navajo and Apache traditionally lived nomadic lifestyles.
