Museum Store Volunteer

1st & 3rd Sundays

2nd & 4th Sundays
1:00 – 5:00
Will be scheduled with seasoned volunteers. Must be able to stand for 4 hours.

Job responsibilities:
Greet customers, offer assistance, comprehend all cash register and bagging procedures, know opening and closing procedures, straighten & restock fixtures, be aware of locations of merchandise including rearranged and new merchandise on floor and in stock room.

The proceeds from the Museum Store help fund the opportunity for under served school children to visit the museum. Without this help, many local children would never have the opportunity to experience the Arizona Museum of Natural History Museum.

Archival Volunteer

Purpose: To assist staff in organizing and filing archival materials
Job responsibilities: Organizing, filing and cataloging
Skills, attitudes, knowledge: Organization, care, trustworthiness, accuracy and reliability a must; other skills pertaining to the above responsibilities ranging from computer skills to small, neat handwriting and filing skills
Time, commitment: Minimum of 3 hours per week, weekdays between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., as scheduled
Training: One-on-one training with museum staff

Graphic Design Volunteer

Purpose: To assist exhibit staff
Job responsibilities: Help create signs, banners, posters and labels for new exhibitions
Skills, attitudes, knowledge: Understanding of visual aesthetics, perception, and color; knowledge in Photoshop, any version, or be willing to learn; able to perform mat cutting, photo or other mountings, hang pictures, climb ladders up to 12 feet, to stand for long periods of time; willing to learn new skills and processes.
Time, commitment: 3-6 hours a week, preferably on Mondays
Training: One-on-one training with museum staff

Photography Volunteer

Purpose: To assist exhibit staff in photographing exhibits
Job responsibilities: Photograph permanent and changes exhibitions; down load and catalogue photographs in museum computer. Camera and lighting provided by museum.
Skills, attitudes, knowledge: Knowledge and skill in photography and lighting, able to climb ladders up to 12 feet, willing to learn new skills and processes
Time, commitment: 2-3 hours a week, preferably on Mondays or weekdays between 8:00 – 10:00 am
